Jackie Robinson made history as the first African-American to play baseball in the Major Leagues when he signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1946. Mr. Robinson was never the subject of an FBI investigation; however, his name came to the attention of the FBI as a result of his National Association for the Advancement of Colored People membership. In 1949, he testified before the House Committee on Un-American Activities during the hearings regarding Communist Infiltration of Minority Groups.

On November 5, 1980, United States Attorney General Benjamin R. Civiletti directed the FBI to participate in the investigation of several missing and murdered children in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to working an independent investigation, the FBI collaborated with the local law enforcement Task Force to provide additional manpower, guidance and technical assistance. Ultimately, on February 27, 1982, Wayne Bertram Williams was found guilty on two counts of murder in the Fulton County Superior Court, Atlanta, Georgia. He was sentenced to two consecutive life terms.

On February 1, 1964, Louis Allen, an African American logger, was shot to death in his driveway in Liberty, Amite County, MS. Allen had gone to the residence of his employer on the evening of January 31, 1964, to get a letter of recommendation as a truck driver and/or a bulldozer operator. It appears he was shot upon his return home. Unknown to all but immediate family, subject had intended to relocate to the Milwaukee, WI area the next day. The killing of Allen was never solved.
