Northwestern Print

This guide includes information on printing, scanning, photocopying, and faxing in Northwestern University Libraries using the Northwestern Print system.

Get started

To access your printing account or print from your laptop, log in with your NetID and password at print.northwestern.edu

Current students

Printing costs are deducted from your Cat Cash (Wildcard) account. Add funds through the GET application.

Library Staff and Faculty

Staff and faculty can print in the library for free, using Mobility Print. Follow instructions for How to Print, but you do not need to add funds to Cat Cash. Users will have to install Mobility Print before their first print.

 

Staff and Faculty from outside the Library

Unfortunately we are not able to offer printing to non-library staff or faculty at this time.

 

Print, Copy, and Scan prices

Black & White Printing and Photocopying

  • 3 cents per page (double-sided or single-sided)

Color Printing and Photocopying

  • 10 cents per page (double-sided or single-sided)

Plotter (Large Format) Printing

  • $2.50 per square foot

Scanning and Scan-to-fax

  • Free

Access your account

Go to print.northwestern.edu and log in with your NetID and password.

  • Create your Northwestern Print account
  • See a list of all your print jobs being held in print queues
  • See a history of your print activity
  • Upload documents remotely to print out later
  • Track your carbon footprint

Please note: Northwestern Print is only available over the Northwestern network (wired, wireless, and VPN) and is not available over the Guest-Northwestern wireless network.  Help connecting to the Northwestern network can be found on the NUIT website or by requesting assistance from the NUIT Support Center.

Request a Refund

  1. To request a refund, log in to your Northwestern Print account at print.northwestern.edu
  2. On the left hand column, click "Recent Print Jobs"
  3. Find the print job for which you would like to request a refund. On the rightmost column, click "Request Refund"
  4. Fill out the form, include any significant details, and click "Submit."
  5. A staff member will respond to your request within 1 business day. Refunds are provided in the form of a credit to your Northwestern Print balance. Funds cannot be added back to a student's Cat Cash account.


Please note: Your Northwestern Print Balance expires when your NetID expires. The Libraries do not give cash refunds for print jobs or for unused balances. In the case of a printer error, reprints can be made at the Main Library Information Commons desk, or refunded to your Northwestern Print Balance.
