News and Newspapers: An Overview

This guide provides information about the libraries' vast collection of digital, print, and microform copies of historic and current newspapers and news sources.  Most of the digital resources require login with a Northwestern NetID/password.

For access to a variety of recent news and streaming sources, including magazine sources, also see the Research Guide Get the News.   For information on Journalism resources, see the Journalism Research Guide.

The Center for Research Libraries (CRL) is home to a large collection of newspapers, in all formats.  More information on the CRL holdings and access information is available on their website.   Some CRL newspapers holdings are listed in NUsearch.  Northwestern students, faculty and staff may borrow materials from CRL, via interlibrary loan.  Information on ILL can be found on the Northwestern Library website.
