This guide seeks to assist users in registering and requesting materials.

Register and Request Materials

First, Point your browser to https://aeon.library.northwestern.edu/logon

2.

If you are a Northwestern user, click the left hand login in button. This will lead you login with your netid and password.
If you are a guest, select the other option. If you have not already registered, you’ll have to enter your contact information, and select a username and password. When you click on the Guest User button, you’ll see the following page. To register, you’ll click the bottom option, First Time Users.

3.

Your user dashboard will have the following ribbon at the top. Click on Search Collections to search our catalog for items or finding aids.

4.

This is the search box. You can search for your item, whether it’s a book or a finding aid.

5.

If it’s a finding aid, you will click on the record to open it.

6.

When the record opens, about halfway down the page, click on the link under ‘View Online’ to open the finding aid.

7.

After clicking on the link, you will be able to either print the finding aid, using the second button at the top right, or you can use the provided search box, also at the right hand side.

8.

I searched for Yoko Ono. The results will appear. Click on the desired one. Please note that we page items at the box level, so if you want to see several folders from the same box, you need only place a request for a single folder of that box. The entire box will be placed on hold for you.

9.

Once it opens, you can click the “Aeon Request” button at the top right. This will generate a request for this item.

10.

Next, the request will appear in your unsubmitted requests queue.

11.

Click on edit. Scroll through the request to make sure all the required information is there and to make notes regarding any special requests, especially pertaining to reproduction requests.

12.

Then at the bottom of the page, click Submit. Until you have clicked Submit, we will not know to page your material.

13.

The process is not so different to request monograph material. Here I have searched for bell hooks. Click on the record for the desired item.

14.

Once the record is open, scroll to mid page. Select Request Special Collections.

15.

Check for required information.

16.

Be sure to scroll to the bottom and select Submit to complete your request.
