Services to Preserve and Share Northwestern Research and Scholarship

Northwestern University Libraries provides consultations, assistance, and technologies to members of the Northwestern community and its affiliates for publishing original research and educational materials online. We believe that free access to scholarship is a public good and we endeavor to meet the evolving needs of authors and readers using open and sustainable practices.
 
Training and Consultations
We can provide group training and individual consultations on a variety of topics related to sharing, publishing, and archiving scholarship. Previous topics include:
  • History of the economics and technologies of scholarly publishing
  • Starting a scholarly journal: Policies, Ethics, and Technologies
  • Copyright for scholarly authors and publishers
  • Free and open source software for scholars
Scholarly Publications and Open Educational Resources
We provide technical and administrative support for custom web publications, including web/ document design, hosting, metadata, discovery, and preservation services for:
  • Conference proceedings
  • Large research projects
  • Scholarly journals
  • Digital Exhibits
  • Monographs
  • Textbooks
  • Course packs
  • Bibliographies
Arch | Research and Data Repository
We manage a self-service and curated repository to store, archive, and provide public access to scholarly and educational materials in digital formats, such as:
  • Dissertations and Theses
  • Source code for analysis
  • Article manuscripts
  • Working papers
  • Presentations
  • Posters

All submissions to Arch include item-level description and receive a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for citation and persistent linking. Visit and log-in with your NetID: http://arch.library.northwestern.edu
