When someone makes a new product, they need to make sure it follows the technical standards for that type of product. There are usually two kinds of standards: one published by the federal government and one produced by industrial or trade associations. Are you wondering what published standards there are for the product you want to make? You can search and identify standards in the IHS standards store at https://global.ihs.com/.

• ASTM Standards - click on the appropriate standards category, search by standards number, or search by keywords. You can request an ASTM standard by filling out a form on the library website
• IEEE Standards - you can search by keywords or by standards number
• Federal Standards: List of Federal Standards
• Federal Specifications: List of Federal Specifications

Currently, the Libraries doesn't provide access to ISO standards. For faculty or TAs, if you need ISO standards for a class, the American National Standards Institute’s (ANSI) University Outreach Program will provide ISO standards for classroom use. Please email Anna Ren, Engineering Research and Collection Analysis Librarian for more information. 

If you need ISO standards for your research or project outside of classroom, you can make a request through our Interlibrary Loan Service.
