Literature Reviews

Writing the Review

Below are suggested components when you are writing your review

  • What is the importance of the topic? How does it relate to existing research?
  • Note what will be addressed in the review.
  • Summaries and evaluations of the literature collected, organizing broadest to narrowest.
  • Identified gaps in the literature.
  • Possibilities for future research

An upside down triangle showing the organization of information: at the top, a summary of broad issues, followed by general issues related to your specific area of research, finally specific issues related to your research question.
