The comparability of indicators across countries and over time is maximized by limiting the data to a single source per indicator and by using well-recognized international data sources.

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific is the main legislative organ of ESCAP and reports to the UN's Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
