This is a Collection of Newsletters, Reports, Correspondence and Ephemera Related to the Administration and Membership Activities of the Tavern Guild of San Francisco, February 1965 - July 1987. ca. 300 pp. of minutes, correspondence, financial and membership reports, flyers, and programs, documenting more than 20 years of the advocacy, organizing, fundraising and promotional work of TGSF, the first gay and lesbian business association in the United States, including materials related to the legendary annual Beaux Arts Ball, solidarity with other progressive national and local organiziations (including SNCC, March on Selma, East Coast Homophile Organization), the negotiation of group health, business and liability insurance, the recovery of bad debts, a legal aid fund, grants for unemployed members, voter registration and political organizing on behalf of campaigns to eliminate discrimination and legalize sexual relations between consenting adults.
