Research Tip

If you'd like to frame your issue by providing data and statistics, try the following:

Governmental Agency Websites

For example, if I am researching the topic of education in prisons, I may want to check the Bureau of Justice's website to find key statistics on the correctional population. I could also visit the Department of Education's website to find information on the Second Chance Pell experiment, which provides financial aid and "education opportunities for thousands of justice-involved individuals."

Organizations and Non-Profit Websites

For example, if I want to make an argument that prison education reduces the rate of recidivism, I might visit the websites of the Prison Education Foundation, Mellon Foundation, or Brookings Institute to see if they've compiled any statistics on that topic.
