Linking ORCID

ORCID profiles can be updated by manually entering articles, presentations, and other works. ORCID IDs can also be linked to other systems so those updates happen automatically.

Manually Update ORCID

ORCID records can be updated by the user either by entering metadata manually or searching by other identifiers, such as DOI or PubMed ID.

Scopus

Import references from Scopus -- Import your Identifier, profile and publications. The wizard helps you find the correct Scopus profile and to confirm your publications. You can then import the identifier and list of publications into ORCID. Any changes you make will be submitted to the Feedback team to update your Scopus profile.

  1. Login to your ORCID record.
  2. Click on "+Add works" -> "Search & link" and then "Scopus to ORCID".
  3. Follow the on screen prompts to send your Scopus ID and papers to ORCID.

MLA International Bibliography

Import your works from MLA International Bibliography. In a few steps you can find and confirm your publications. Then you can import the list of publications into ORCID. 

  1. Login to your ORCID record.
  2. Click on "+Add works" -> "Search & linkand then "MLA International Bibliography".
  3. Follow the on screen prompts to send your Scopus ID and papers to ORCID.

Link Your ORCID iD to Your eRA Commons Profile

Beginning October 1, 2019, the National Institutes of Health, Office of Extramural Research requires ORCID identifiers for individuals supported by institutional research training, career development, and other research education awards. xTrain appointments will not be accepted for agency review if potential appointees do not have an ORCID iD linked to their Electronic Research Administration (eRA) personal profile.

ORCID iDs will also be required for PD/PIs on individual fellowship and career development applications submitted for due dates on or after January 25, 2020.
