Software for Data Analysis: Software Workshops

Recommended resources (online tutorials and books) for social science data analysis, complied by software packages and level of proficiency.

Data Camp

NUIT Research Computing is offering access to Data Camp online courses for students, faculty, and staff interested in learning or improving their skills with R and Python. Space is limited.

Software Workshops

Library software workshops are listed on the Libraries' events calendar (use the pull-down menu to limit listings to "Workshops") each academic quarter.  Currently the Libraries' offers workshops on R, Stata, and using Excel to prepare data for analysis.

The Researcher's Toolkit is a technology workshop series designed to help Northwestern researchers improve scholarly productivity and efficiency in the areas of programming, data analysis, scientific computing, data management, publication skills, and GIS.

There is no cost to attend any of these workshops.  Attendance is limited to NU-affiliated faculty, staff, and students.


NUIT Research Computing Consultation Services collaborate with research faculty, post docs, staff, and students to overcome technical obstacles, advance skills, and effectively use computational resources. Support is provided for all skill levels and for all areas of research within the University.
