Finding books (and articles and more) at Northwestern

Use NUsearch, Northwestern University Library's search tool, to find books, articles, documents, films, sound recordings, and other items across both the Evanston and Chicago campus libraries of Northwestern University.
NOTE: NUsearch can also search across several article databases to retrieve articles and other documents.

Various ways to search for books in NUsearch

BASIC SEARCH (search with author and title as keywords.  Finds novel plus other books)

ADVANCED SEARCH (more precise search for title, limit to books as format)

ADVANCED SEARCH (more precise search--searches in the title field and author field, finds novel)

To further identify and locate the specific books you want

If it helps, you can always limit in NUsearch, on the left, to Books only, so that other format types do not show.
Then limit to Main Library as location.

To find a book on the shelf in Main Library, click on title to open the full book record, then choose LOCATE.

Wayfinding Signage

Note signs by elevators and in hallways

Navigating the Tower

At the entrance to the tower (4 East, 4 North, etc.) look to the left to find a diagram on the wall.  This also helps guide you to the approximate call number location for your book.

Enter the tower and use the shelf call number ranges to help guide you also.

Once you find your book, to exit the tower the quickest way, use the carpet pattern as a guide!
