DataBank: YBP Gobi Peer Groups

Peer Ranking Reports

This report will give you numbers of titles, as opposed to a list of actual titles.  It provides data on the distribution of titles purchased by each library in your Peer Group. This data reflects an indication of the strength of your current acquisitions relative to those of your peers—within the universe of books handled by YBP and other parameters.

You can compare your library to selected libraries on the number of titles received (on approval or through slip orders, etc.) on a particular subject, or within a call number range, including certain publishers and/or e-books, etc. You can retrieve a graph or table.

A.            See REPORTS tab

B.            click on PEER RANKING

The top section of this page looks just like the "Edit Peer Groups" page, and once again you can choose which libraries you wish to compare or keep the default, which is your Peer Group, if you have saved one.

C.            Scroll down to choose values on the variables offered. Example:

Universe              = all

E-books                                = include

Date Range         = 09012009 01152010

Deliver                  = in GOBI

Subject                 = nanotechnology

D.            After executing the comparison with GO, you will see a link to the REPORTS ADMINISTRATION SCREEN. This will show you the status of the report (queued, running, etc.). It is also the screen from which you can VIEW a completed report.  You can get to that screen at any time by clicking  the REPORTS tab, then ADMINISTRATION.

A Peer Ranking Report on Selected Libraries will produce the number of titles acquired per library. In appears, in the example below, that NUL purchased more titles on nanotechnology than MIT and significantly more than Purdue, in the specified time period, through YBP.

E.            You have several delivery options:

(1) If you have your report DELIVERED IN GOBI, you will see numbers on a bar graph on the

                 screen (see above).

                (2)  If you have your report DELIVERED TO PDF, you can save or print the bar graph.

                (3) If you have your report DELIVERED TO EXCEL, you will receive the raw data in a

                table and you can create your own graphs.  TAB DELIMITED gives you the data in text form.

But don't worry. If you choose #1, you can change your mind and send it via EMAIL in the formats of #2 and #3.
