Here are some very general ranges of call numbers.  These ranges are just a guide--specific works may be cataloged under other numbers based on the main subject of the work. Art books are also shelved by size: regular, large (L) and folio (F).

ART COLLECTION:  DEERING LIBRARY 3rd FLOOR

720 - Architecture

         728 - Residential and related buildings

         (Architecture books are housed in a separate room across the lobby and to the right from the main reading room.)

759 - Painting and painters

         (Books on painting are classified by nationality and then artist name. For example, 759.4 M742 is Monet.)

770 - Photography including catalogs of photography exhibits

         778 - photojournalism, motion picture photography, fashion photography, digital photography

         779 - collections of photographs, classified by last name of photographer and/or geographic region
