NUsearch is the main search tool for Northwestern University Library, combining the library catalog with a wealth of other databases and online collections.
Tips on searching:
When searching for two different terms, type AND in between. For example, gender AND elections
To broaden your search you can connect synonyms or similar terms, type OR in between. For example, children OR adolescent
When searching for a phrase, put the terms in quotation marks. For example, "structural racism"
To search for variations on a word or phrase, use the * at the end. For example, searching for politic* will pull up results with politics, politicians, and political
The world's most comprehensive catalog of library holdings, particularly (though not exclusively) from North American libraries, containing over 2,000,000,000 records from over 10,000 libraries.
NUL has a lot of periodicals, but sometimes we won't have full-text access to an article. If we don't have a certain article, place an Interlibary Loan request so we can try to get it from another library. You can request books and media here too.
We don't own it but you think we should? Make a recommendation for a book, journal, or other materials. The item will be reviewed by the librarian(s) responsible for the relevant subject area.
