What is Arch?

Arch is the institutional repository of Northwestern University and serves as a platform to preserve and share the research and scholarly output of the university community. Faculty and research staff at Northwestern University, with a current NetID and password, may deposit digital files of their finalized research or scholarly works into Arch.

Goals:

  • To provide a preservation and access system for faculty to share their research with the world
  • To support open access to research and scholarship  

Arch is built on an open-source architecture based on the Fedora/Hydra stack solution. The repository provides stable, long-term preservation and ongoing maintenance for content contained within the repository. 

Research materials suitable for deposit:

  • Research papers and posters
  • Conference proceedings
  • Technical or Lab reports
  • Figures and Images
  • Datasets supporting publications
  • Open access content
