Research Resources Forum 2016

About the 2016 RRF

The Northwestern University Libraries look forward to supporting your graduate studies and research! In 2016, we are pleased to announce several opportunities for incoming doctoral students to learn about our resources and services. We have customized orientations for graduate students in humanities, social sciences, and some science disciplines.

For incoming doctoral students in humanities and social sciences, as well as some other areas, the University Libraries, in partnership with the Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences (WCAS), The School of Communication (SoC), the Bienen School of Music, and The Graduate School (TGS) will host a program, the Research Resources Forum (RRF), on September 19. The purpose of the Forum is to introduce students to the vast array of information resources and services available via the University Libraries, and to provide a solid overview of those materials, tools, and techniques that are relevant to scholarly research.

On the 19th, the day begins with continental breakfast in the Ver Steeg Faculty Lounge, on the third floor of the University Library. Breakfast will be followed by forum sessions in 45-minute blocks beginning at 9:00 a.m. As you look over the session topics you will see a wide range of choices. We welcome and encourage you to attend as many sessions as your schedule allows. At 12:40 p.m., students are invited to enjoy a lunch in the library. After lunch, there will be an opportunity to meet the Library Subject Specialists at an informal coffee.  Drop-in sessions and library tours will follow the coffee.  To register for the September 19 program, graduate students are asked to follow the registration procedure by clicking on the registration link in the tab above.

Other specially designed programs are listed in the attached guide. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Harriet Lightman or Geoff Morse, the librarian coordinators for the RRF. We hope to see you in the fall, and we welcome you to Northwestern University.

Sincerely,

Sarah M. Pritchard
