Middle East and North Africa Studies

CRL: Center for Research Libraries

The Center for Research Libraries (CRL), based in Chicago, is an international consortium of university, college, and independent research libraries. The Herskovits Library contributes to CRL through the African Newspapers Union List (AFRINUL), a centralized electronic database of holdings information for newspapers (all formats and all languages) published in sub-Saharan Africa. The main AFRINUL page includes links to other CRL resources related to Africa.

The Middle East Materials Project (MEMP) preserves collections in digital and microform format of unique, rare, hard to obtain, and often expensive research material for Middle East studies. Click here for information about CRL's MEMP holdings.

These physical resources are also available to you for your research. Once you use the CRL Online Catalog to find items of interest, you can request them via the Northwestern Library Interlibrary Loan service.
