Tips & Caveats: Analyzing and Interpreting the Data

    • Examine on a per title basis. See tab "AllTitles" -- it is sorted by Subject. Cut/paste your subject titles into a new worksheet so you can manipulate the data in various ways (below).

    • Sort by Pub Date: About 22% of all works requested were published in the 1990s. The more recent the pub date, the more titles borrowed. Due these patterns hold that true in the case of your subject area?

    • Sort by Imprint: Are there publishers that seem over-represented in the results? Unfortunately, this analysis sorts by place of publication rather than publisher; Although in the majority of cases it does not matter, some publishers are listed in more than one location.

    • Sort by LC and/or Dewey: Is there a high concentration of works in a particular subfield (e.g., lots of law within political science)?

    • Sort by Fiscal Year then Call Number: Does the heavy demand for this subfield appear over a two year span?

    • Sort by Language.

    • Recently Purchased by NUL: It is possible that NUL now owns some of the works borrowed in FY11 and FY12 when NUL did not.

    • Interpret Repeat Requests:  Were all Japanese monographs were requested by the same person? Is this resource an index that is difficult to use, for which a guide might help?
