ebooks: Downloading to a Desktop or Laptop

From the EBSCOhost eBook Platform

1. Download Adobe Digital Editions to your laptop or PC

2. Click "Download this eBook (Offline)"

3. Click "Create a new Account" to create an EBSCOhost username and password. 

4. Select the checkout period and click "Checkout and Download." Open your eBook in Adobe Digital Editions.


From the ProQuest ebrary Platform

1. Download Adobe Digital Editions to your laptop or PC

2. Click "Full Download"

3. Create an ebrary account

4. Click  again

5. Select "Laptop Desktop" and click Continue

6. Click "Done with this Step"

4. Download your book!


To Transfer an eBook from your Laptop or Personal Computer to your Mobile Device

1. Open Adobe Digital Editions to your laptop or PC

2. Plug your device into your laptop or PC

3. Adobe Digital Editions will show your eReader under "Bookshelves" on the left.

4. Click on the title of the ebook you downloaded, and drag and drop it into the eReader icon. Check your device to make sure the book transferred.

Returning an eBook

Some ebooks can only be checked out to one person at a time. If you are no longer using your ebook and would like to return it, log into Adobe Digital Editions or Bluefire Reader, right click on the book and select "Return Borrowed Item."

Checkout Periods

Some ebooks have limited user access and may only be available to one user at a time. Check individual ebook record for availability information.

EBSCOhost eBooks

  • Entire book check out period between 1-7 days
  • Portions of ebooks can be downloaded as a PDF - number of pages varies by publisher, do not expire, can be printed

ebrary eBooks

  • multi-user books expire after 14 days
  • single-user books expire after 7 days
  • limit of 10 ebooks checked out at a time​
  • Portions of ebooks can be downloaded as a PDF - limited to 60 pages per day, do not expire, and can be printed
