Why NVivo?

NVivo is a qualitative data analysis package. NVivo helps researchers to organize and analyze complex non numerical or unstructured data, both texts and multimedia information. The software allows users to classify, sort and arrange thousands of pieces of information. It also accommodates a wide range of research methods. It supports documents in many languages

Where to Find NVivo?

The following library computers have NVIVO v.11 installed:

  • University Library Information Commons - PublicIC03, PublicIC06, PublicIC25, and PublicIC37
  • Deering Library Room 101 - PublicGov09 

NUworkspace offers users a Windows virtual desktop with a suite of software applications (including NVivo 11) for University work. Accounts are available upon request to eligible faculty, staff and students affiliated with Weinberg, Kellogg, IPR and School of Communication. Graduate students, undergraduate students and staff in those schools must have faculty approval for account requests.

Make an Appointment

Set up an appointment to meet with Social Science Data Services staff to discuss your research and learn about one, or more, of the following:

  • what data is available
  • data formatting for analysis
  • using software to analyze data
  • data visualizations
