Inserting Parenthetical References

  1. Go to the pace in your word document that you would like to insert the parenthetical citation.
  2. Select the insert citation button on the Zotero toolbar.
  3. A document preferences dialog box will come up. In this box you will need to select the documentation style.
  4. When the Add/Edit citation dialog box opens select the proper citation in your Zotero library and if applicable enter a page number(s), prefix and suffix.
  5. Your formatted parenthetical reference will now appear in your word document.

Inserting Footnotes

Using Zotero, the process for inserting footnotes is no different than the process for inserting parenthetical citations

  1. Start by moving you cursor to the location where you want your footnote to go:

  3. A document preferences dialog box will come up. In this box you will need to select the documentation style.
  4. When the Add/Edit citation dialog box opens select the proper citation in your Zotero library and if applicable enter a page number(s), prefix and suffix.
  5. Your formatted footnote will now appear in your word document.
